This project was inspired by a free/paid software application by the same name. I found this program somewhere between 2002 and 2006, and lost it sometime around 2010. By then all of the computers and flash drives that had housed copies had been broken or wiped and I couldn’t find anywhere to download it anymore. I even tried emailing one of the developers (I think) to no avail.
In the fall of 2011, I took an Introduction to Computer Science class at American University. For my final project, I tried to recreate this program in Python. As anyone who knows anything about programming could guess, after only a couple months of introductory Python, I didn’t get very far. My program was entirely text-based and was lacking in basic functionality — but I did really well in the class!
Fast forward a few years, and I’m trying again. This time in PHP with a MySQL database.
I’m still writing this section because I’ve been overhauling the rest of the site to make it more secure and complete. Because adding SSL costs more money than disposable income will allow, there’s only so much I can do on the security front. However I’m trying to implement everything I can because I’ve never really thought about security in my projects before.
